Werner Segarra

Werner Segarra is a photographer and artist who uses his worldly experience and personal passion to create his work The Puerto Rico native spent part of his youth in Saudi Arabia, Germany and Arizona. His passion for photography, including the work of Ansel Adams, built him a successful fashion photography business in San Juan, working for international companies and prestigious designers. But it was his youthful experience at a boarding school in Sedona that brought him back to Arizona in 2002. Werner first reimagined himself as an interior architectural photographer and began a career with Phoenix Home & Garden and other publications, then built a significant portfolio working with the Valley’s top architects and interior designers. His time in Sonora, Mexico as a teen drew him back recently to re-immerse himself in the culture of Mexican cowboys. His passion for those Sonoran vaqueros, spurred by a 30-year relationship with the people of northern Mexico, led him to create a fine art career photographing the remote lifestyle of these proud and hardworking people. Segarra has recently turned his talents to his native land, artistically documenting the coffee-growing culture of his family, in the lush mountains of Puerto Rico. As an artist, it is his passion for the subject and his desire to tell a story that inspires him.
