Design Icon – Architect

Jessica Hutchison-Rough, AIA

At six years old, Jessica Hutchison-Rough was following her successful architect father, Lee Hutchison, around the job sites. By 12, she was working in the office of Scottsdale-based Urban Design Associates in the summer doing chores. She dreamed of drawing plans all day. With an architecture degree from ASU and some time away in Canada to start a family, Hutchison-Rough returned home and began the process of working on architecture with her father. When her father retired, Hutchison-Rough took charge and updated the business to reflect current needs and values. However, she still embodies her famous father’s design philosophy, sense of programming and understanding of space and journey. Hutchison-Rough’s team of architects and project types reflect her influence and desires to do work in her own image, focusing on site-specific architecture, client- and program-embedded design, and creating to all different style languages.
